Counting Calories won't help you lose belly fat or get to the weight and size for your goal. Besides being depressing and completely unnecessary, counting calories is time consuming! What you DO need to do is be mindful of what you eat and eat foods that help your body.

Even exercising regularly will not overcome eating junk foods or foods that do not help your body. You need to eat the kinds of foods that help you burn calories not food that has excess calories. Healthy fats help with nutrient absorption and can improve the health of your heart. Also, fat helps you feel satiated. When you add it to your meals, you are less likely to overindulge.

Healthy Carbohydrate Sources

You want to avoid carbohydrates (carbs) from sources like white bread, pasta, baked goods, processed snacks and sugar. These foods are absorb quickly by your body and can trigger a rapid release of insulin. This sudden release of insulin can give you the munchies even after you have eaten. The rest of this food that is not processed goes to, you guessed it, fat.

Protein triggers the release of a hormone called glucagon, which acts as an appetite suppressant. There are studies that suggest diets rich in protein can enhance fat loss when it is combined with the proper amounts of exercise. Eat nuts, legumes, grass-fed beef, free range poultry and organic eggs to get enough protein in your diet.
